Reef have been announced as the Friday night headliner for this year’s Galtres Festival, they will join previously announced headliners  Maximo Park and The Stranglers .

Reef, who formed at the height of Britpop in 1993, include three top-ten albums in their repertoire including number one "Glow" which followed the number three "Replenish". They've headlined Reading and Glastonbury Festivals and are now excited to be heading for Galtres in North Yorkshire.

"This is a great addition to our line-up," said festival director James Houston. "Everyone knows Reef's party favourite Place Your Hands Up which wreaked havoc in the charts and tore pop music apart for a few weeks. But the sheer brilliance, thrill factor, smileability and scream-along choruses of Reef's extensive repertoire make this rock. Not just rock though, the finest British rock and roll to emerge in an age.

"To me, Reef merge different styles very effectively that are usually very hard to pull off. The funk of The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, with the racous rock and vocals of The Rolling Stones or the Sterephonics, and the attitude of the nineties generation in Brit pop is one hell of a combination. The likes of 'Give Me Your Love' also throws in a bit of AC\DC to the mix. This is pure rock and roll for a modern age, and Reef are probably one of the more underrated bands of the Brit-pop era, if not the nineties."
