One of the most exciting new additions to the UK festival calendar arrives this summer as State Fayre makes its debut at Hylands Park in Chelmsford from Friday 26th to 28 Sunday. Billed as the UK's biggest music and BBQ festival, the event promises to combine major live music performances with a celebration of American style food, craft drinks and outdoor entertainment in one of Essex's most picturesque settings. 

Set within the glorious grounds of Hylands Park, State Fayre takes inspiration from traditional American state fairs, blending rock, country, folk and Americana music with fairground attractions, camping, family activities and an impressive food offering. With a capacity of around 30,000 people, it has all the ingredients to become one of the standout new festivals of 2026. 

The line up is packed with big names. Friday sees Kings of Leon top the bill, bringing their arena sized catalogue of indie rock anthems to Chelmsford. Saturday belongs to Alanis Morissette, whose timeless songs continue to attract huge crowds around the world, while Sunday closes in style with American folk rock favourites The Lumineers. Supporting artists across the weekend include The Black Crowes, Counting Crows, Skunk Anansie, Elvis Costello & The Imposters, KT Tunstall, Razorlight, Kip Moore, Sierra Ferrell, Orville Peck, Molly Tuttle, Kingfishr and many more.

Food is just as important as the music at State Fayre. At the heart of the festival is The FUME Pit, a dedicated live fire BBQ arena featuring some of the most respected pitmasters and barbecue specialists in the country. Visitors can tuck into everything from slow smoked brisket and ribs to wood fired cooking, tacos, burgers and plant based alternatives. Traders confirmed include KG BBQ, Ember, Rack City Ribs, Temper, Craft & Cleaver, Ginger Wings and Wholesome Junkies, ensuring there is plenty to satisfy festival appetites between sets.

With major headline acts, mouth watering food, camping options and a relaxed summer atmosphere, State Fayre looks set to make a memorable first impression. For music lovers who enjoy great food as much as great live performances, this could be one of the must visit festivals of the summer.
