They will lead an acoustic programme designed to equal the main stage headliners, with more names yet to be announced.

Former Commotions front man Lloyd Cole famed for hits such as Perfect Skin, Rattlesnakes and Brand New Friend, will be delivering stripped-down versions of his big hits as well as songs from his brilliant solo career. Currently this is his only UK festival appearance of the summer, and it's set to be an amazing performance. He will headline the new Black Howl big top stage on Saturday 24 August.

York prodigy Benjamin Francis Leftwich will play the Duke Stage on Friday 23 August, guaranteed to play his hauntingly beautiful music to the Galtres Festival audience for the first time.

And another big name from York, former Seahorses frontman Chris Helme will be playing songs from his brand new solo album, and he will headline the Moonbeam Sunday Sessions in the Black Howl. This will be Chris' fourth Galtres appearance, back by ever-more popular demand. In 2011 he delivered a stunning main stage performance before The Charlatans, joined on stage by Shed Seven and other top musicians. This year he'll be playing a more intimate set with his band.

Festival director James Houston commented: "Lloyd Cole is my all-time favourite artist. He's a brilliant performer, ultra-cool, and a major influence on my musical development over the years. It's an incredible honour to have him play for us, and will be a major highlight for Galtres. With the spell-binding Ben Leftwich and most wonderful Chris Helme coming too, I think the big bands on the outside stages will have some serious competition for headlines from these extraordinarily talented York artists."

Maximo Park, Reef, The Stranglers and The Undertones are also playing Galtres Parklands Festival, which takes place at Duncombe Park, Helmsley, North Yorkshire over the August Bank Holiday weekend.Tickets on sale here.
