There’ll also be festival-style food vendors and full bar facilitiesAnd with the two headline bands still to be revealed, the organisers are already lining up a stellar bill of rock talent. Tickets are now on sale for the Town Hall event here.

Co-organiser Deb Jacobs says: “We really wanted to bring something on this scale to Burton, to continue the ‘festival feeling’ slightly beyond the summer.

“There’s a hugely-passionate audience for live music here and it’s an exciting prospect to create something of this scale.”

Rockstock & Barrel will begin with a civic reception on the afternoon of Friday, Oct 3, before an evening of music with a mainly-acoustic flavour on the main stage.

It’ll include an exclusive solo performance from Paul Miro, of Apes, Pigs & Spacemen, the critically-acclaimed 90s MTV favourites who recently reformed in acoustic format. Miro will be playing songs from the Apes back catalogue as well as the best of his solo material including his latest album ‘Sometimes You Get, Sometimes You Get Got’.

Also appearing on Friday evening are Steel Threads, the ‘power folk’ band whose latest album ‘For Those Who Are Left’ has been met with huge critical acclaim, and a series of high-profile support slots and festival bookings.

On Saturday October 4 music will start early afternoon. Main stage acts announced today are as follows:

Wille and the Bandits – roots-rock trio fresh from supports to the likes of Deep Purple and Joe Bonamassa

Teenage Casket Company – award-winning power pop/hard rockers who bring the best of 80s Los Angeles right up to date

The Roughneck Riot – punk/folk six-piece garnering regular airplay on BBC Radio 1 Punk Show

A World Defined – Midlands post-rockers building a stellar reputation

Darktown Jubilee – Manchester rock band who shot to fame with a video featuring Emmerdale’s Emma Atkins (Charity Sharma)

Saturday will also see a second stage operating, designed to showcase the best local acoustic acts.

Although the headliners are yet to be formally announced, Deb Jacobs promises: “We’ve lined up one of the best-loved names in British rock plus one of the fastest rising folk-punk outfits in the UK today.”

Tickets are now on sale priced £12 for Friday night, £20 for all-day Saturday and £28 for a full weekend ticket.
