Stratford-Upon-Avon played host to an estimated 55,000 people over the weekend who were attending arguably the UK’s biggest electronic festival, Global Gathering. A huge line-up was headlined by chart-topper Tinie Tempah on Friday night and Chase & Status who brought their hugely successful live act to a ballistic crowd at Long Marston Airfield on Saturday. With two outdoor stages and six arena tents there was something for everyone, not to mention the various fairground attractions for the adrenalin-junkies.  The weather matching the quality of the acts every step of the way ensured the festival was a massive triumph.

Friday and the campsite comes alive with GG pilgrims carefully selecting their pitch to base their weekend from, usually as close to the bar as possible, with sound checks of the first acts already thumping through the camp site this alone was sending goose bumps down the necks of the festival goers. With the arena open all eyes and ears were on the performers Jaguar Skills and Andy C standing out in the UKF Bass Culture Arena.

Tinie Tempah returned to Global for a second time headlining the main stage and he didn’t disappoint the huge following he brought with him. The highlight of the show was his brand new single, “Drinking from the Bottle” produced by electronic heavyweight Calvin Harris.

The following day campers were woken by more glorious weather and even louder sound checks, resulting in bigger goose bumps. Day ticket holders joined the campers in what was surely the biggest day of the weekend, with the festival spirit in full swing the site was buzzing in anticipation. DJ Fresh took to the main stage early evening to warm up the crowd with radio smashes, “Hot Right Now” and “Louder” amongst the highs of the show.

Hospitality had again been given an arena all to themselves as the label seemingly can do no wrong. High Contrast, TC, Roni Size and Netsky were just a handful of the top class talent on show. With so much on offer seeing everything was almost impossible, not a bad a position to be in.

As we packed our tent away and headed for the car park, it was time to reflect and with the sounds of Global Gathering still ringing in our ears, it was clear that the festival took another huge step to being one of the greatest dance events on planet Earth.

Next year? You bet
