Frequently talked about as one of the best summer music festivals in Europe, Optimus Alive features varied line-ups that give equal attention to stadium filling international live acts, buzzy emerging artists and home-grown Portuguese talent. The festival is reputed for its friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Now entering its eighth year, the 50,000 capacity festival enjoys the kind of sunny weather UK festivals can only dream of and a prime location in the heart of Lisbon, a 5 minute drive from the capital’s beautiful historical landmarks and bustling nightlife. With some of Europe’s best beaches and surfing spots 10 mins away by train, Optimus Alive is very much a ‘beach by day, music by night’ destination festival - the festival opens at 6pm and goes on until 6am and fans can either book from the huge array of stylish and affordable local accommodation, or camp in the luxurious festival campsite.Lisbon itself is one of the most stimulating capital cities in Europe, known for its colourful nightlife. With al fresco dining in beautiful old restaurants rating high on visitors’ lists and a huge choice of refined, high end restaurants visitors are spoiled for choice when it comes to dining out – similarly the bar and club culture makes Lisbon a destination of choice amongst those wanting an exciting city break.

Previous artists to have played include Stone Roses, The White Stripes, Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, Foo Fighters, Neil Young,Depeche Mode, Radiohead, The Cure, Pearl Jam, Beastie Boys, Smashing Pumpkins, Bob Dylan alongside legendary electronic acts and DJs such as The Chemical Brothers, The Prodigy, Justice, Deadmau5 and Simian Mobile Disco to name but a few. Striking the perfect balance with massive acts and emerging artists, last year’s dance tent read like a who’s who of tastemaker UK electronic talent and included the likes of Daniel Avery, Gold Panda, Disclosure, Two Inch Punch, Dusky and Mosca.

With a 3-day pass costing under £105 and more economy direct flights between the UK and Lisbon than ever before, Optimus Alive is going from Europe’s best kept secret to a main fixture on many UK festival goers’ calendars.

Optimus Alive 2014 takes place between 10-12th July 2014 Passeio Maritimo de Alges, Lisbon.
