Pulse Festival 2014 Overview

Pulse Festival returns to Sunnyfields Farm near Southampton for two days of music, farm food, excellent drink, and a host of festival activities.

With the lineup of bands and acts filling two live stages. It’s going to be a very eclectic mix of genres from newfolk to electro, cowpunk to bhangra, dub to triphop, acoustic twiddlings to electropunk and lots lots more.

The festival was set up in 2010 with a clear purpose in mind and that was to raise money and awareness for the Children’s Heart Unit in Southampton. Two of the festival organisers, Mark Ward and Olly Maw, both have young children with Congenital Heart Disease who have both had life saving treatment at the unit in Southampton. The festival supports Families of Oceanward, a local charity who really make a difference to the patients and relatives of children with Heart problems.

The Festival is held at Sunnyfields Farm and anyone who has been there before will know that they know a thing or two about food. They really do take food from “field to plate” and The Sunnyfields Farm kitchen is the place where it all happens. They have had a cafe running from the farm for many years and they now host Farmer’s Markets every weekend.

The Farm are pioneers of the Food & More Project and it is because of this project that the organisers are able to put on this festival – This project is all about farms being more than just places that grow food, which means they can do things like play music there too!
