Here’s a quick interview, courtesy of Willowman Festival, with one of their headliners – the excellent SPACE. Read on…………..
How does it feel to be back on the festival circuit this year?
It feels great I’ll have to dig my wellies out, then again that means it’s raining, maybe not.
What do you enjoy most about playing festivals?
Thing I enjoy most about fezzies is playing with other bands you might never see & trying to win new fans over.
Do you ever do the camping experience at festivals or do you stay in a hotel?
Yeah did camping thing once but someone spilt milk in the tent, the stink was EVIL!
How did the band handle being so successful in the 90s?
We didn't but we’ve learned from that now.
What’s the highlight of your career so far?
The highlight was playing the Hillsborough justice gig at Anfield & seeing the world; before Space the furthest I’d been was Wales.
Looking back would you have done anything differently?
Maybe dress better & get a haircut.
Do you feel you differ as band now and in what way?
Well, we'd be outsiders in any era but I like it that way.
Do you feel you have any challenges left?
I still ain’t done my medieval/Mormon/jazz album yet.
Which of today’s bands do you listen to?
Rizzle Kicks & Judas Priest.
Who’s in your CD player/on your iPod just now?
The Slits 70s post punk band, ahead of their time.
You’re playing Willowman this year… Are you looking forward to it?
I was scared at first - thought it said Wicker man, but can't wait!
Are you staying for the weekend or just the day?
Just staying for the day, gutted.
Have you spent much time in Yorkshire before?
Only when touring, I love it the people are boss.
What’s next?
Album out October & 20 date UK tour. It’s been 20 years since we formed, then see the world again.....
