Attendees of this summer’s Willowman Festival are being encouraged to don top hats, Victorian costumes, monocles and goggles to participate in the Steampunk fancy dress theme. Two girls who have got into the spirit of things early are 29 year old Zainatron Bot, who hails from New Zealand, and 20 year old Yorkshire lass Stevie Groves.

When asked about her interest in the festival fancy dress theme Zainatron replied " I have spent the last year travelling the world from my home in New Zealand and I can't wait for The Willowman, which will be my first ever UK festival. I have always been a fan of Victoriana clothing so the Steampunk fancy dress on Saturday night is an added bonus for me".

Redheaded Stevie Groves added “I love 90's dance music, so I can't wait to see The Orb on Friday night. Festivals are also a great excuse to don crazy costumes and have a laugh with friends and strangers alike.”

Steampunk is best described as a style which mixes Victorian era clothing, machinery and art with modern technology. Hollywood movie “The league of extraordinary gentlemen is often regarded as a Steampunk classic”

Festival owner Steve Williams commented “Yorkshire is a region which is always associated with steam power and Victorian architecture, it has inspired me to theme up the festival, we have various ‘Steamkamp’ areas for our guests to stay and a steam powered pizza locomotive to feed the Willow masses, the fancy dress theme will be great fun, l will be handing out tickets to the 2014 festival to anyone l see in a particularly cool costume”.

Willowman festival goers will be treated to four stages over four days from the 20th to the 23rd June. Headline acts include New Model Army, The Wonder Stuff, Space and The Orb Sound system. An eclectic under bill features a mixture of festival favourites and breakthrough artists such as Radical Dance Faction and Syd Arthur.

Taking place at Hillside Rural Activities Park near Thirsk in North Yorkshire the festival is competitively priced at £70 for an adult weekend ticket.
