Here’s what the organisers had to say…..

The Willowman Festival which took place last weekend has been dubbed a huge success by organisers and revellers alike.

Held at Hillside Rural Activities Park near Thirsk in North Yorkshire, the fourth Willowman enjoyed a record attendance of around 3000 people.

Event organiser Steve Williams commented “We feel that all the hard work over the last four years has finally paid off, we attract a great family audience from all over the country and l think this time they must have brought all their mates. We offer an old school festival which is well priced and we try to make sure families can still enjoy an action packed weekend even during these times of austerity and recession”.

Lucy Dales aged 33 from Leeds added “ I came with a family group of ten and we loved the Willowman, the bands were great, the staff were friendly and best of all the audience were all there just to relax and have a good time.”

Taking place over the summer solstice the Willowman presented four stages over four days, these ranged from the Argonaut Acoustic Area hosted by Creative Intentions., where people could relax on futons whilst being entertained by a range of talented acoustic performers, through to the Mad Hatters Dance Tent, which revved up the masses with old school Jungle and hardcore style DJ sets.

Not to be outdone the main stage offered a seamless carousel of gifted performers headlined by New Model Army, The Orb Sound System and The Wonder Stuff.

Other barnstorming performances over the weekend were noted from Sicknote, Pikey Beats and Flutatious.

One enthusiastic fan Denis Borov made a 2000 mile trip from his native Moscow to see his 90’s indie heroes ‘Space’ perform at the festival. Event organisers rolled out the red carpet for Denis and arranged a special meet and greet backstage with his favourite rock stars.

Denis said “This is so amazing to meet my heroes and see them perform, l love UK people”.

Early bird tickets are now on sale for the 2014 Willowman which will take place in the same location from the 19th to 22nd June.
