Updated Thursday 31 Jan: Will Kennard (Chase & Status) is confirmed to take part in Rising: Futures on 14th February, an interactive day of music workshops, debates and advice sessions for young people, which sees the start of Roundhouse Rising, the annual festival of emerging music at the legendary Camden venue.
As co-founder of the East London Academy of Music, whose aim is to provide free music education for disadvantaged young people, Kennard will participate in a session that centres around the future of music education, alongside DV8 Training’s Ian Morton.
Kennard will also take part in the focal point of the day, the Futures Panel, a youth-led debate that will focus on the role music plays in society and discuss the opportunities available to future generations. The panellist line-up includes Emily Dicks (BBC Radio 1Xtra), Karen Brock (Music Advisory Board Member – GLA), Little Simz (rapper), Kieran Yates (Guardian/NME journalist) and leading music marketing executive John Leahy.
“I’m really pleased to be a part of Rising: Futures and fully support the ethos behind Roundhouse Rising Festival. Music education for young people is incredibly important, there’s a wealth of unknown talent out there and I’m lucky enough to be able to pass on my skills and knowledge to young people that may otherwise not have the same opportunities.” – Will Kennard
Rising: Futures forms part of the opening day of Roundhouse Rising Festival, which will culminate in Roundhouse Records’ showcase of some of its newest artists on the evening of 14th February. Tickets for both events are £6.
