Wakestock has long been synonymous with supporting the best up and coming new talent on the Welsh music scene, and 2011 is no different. New additions to the bill include BBC Radio 1’s HUW STEPHENS, MASTERS IN FRANCE, SIBRYDION, COLORAMA, MR PHORMULA, POKET TREZ and BARE LEFT.

Radio 1 legend HUW STEPHENS is set to return. He took over from Jo Whiley this year as one of the pillars of the Radio 1 schedule. Known for his impeccable music taste, this man is the king of cool when it comes to what to listen to, and is a champion of all that is great and good in the Welsh music scene
MASTERS IN FRANCE are also set to return to the festival this year. Single “Little Girl” was playlisted on daytime Radio One and the band will be making their BBC Radio One Big Weekend debut this year. They are set to support Jaguar Skills at Wakestock.

Cardiff based SIBRYDION will also be making the trip up north. Originally from Waunfawr in North Wales, these wild west fanatics create an ultra-melodic, appealing blend of bubblegum, country and mariachi pop. Third album Campfire Classics was released in 2009, to high acclaim and with a new album due this year these guys have a huge appeal.

Ed Holden aka MR PHORMULA, is an unstoppable force on the Welsh hip-hop scene. His consistent airplay on BBC Radio 1, Radio Cymru and Radio Wales, are the direct result of his talent and bilingual verbal dexterity. Indisputably a one-man-show-musical-force to be reckoned with, Mr Phormula is doing nothing less than taking the world and Wakestock by storm.

COLORAMA also be taking to the Wakestock stage this year. Prepare to hear some of the most awe inspiring and beautiful songs heard this decade. After playing every respected folky club in the country, having appeared on the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury, and many other festivals, word about Colorama is finally starting to get out, and Wakestock can’t wait to welcome them.

POKET TREZ will join them with their many influences, ranging from the amazing to the bizarre, the three piece use big beats, big bass, big stabs, nasty keys, dirty guitars, hip-hop rhythms, robotic vocals and west coast harmonies to create their music. Championed by the likes of Huw Stephens, we can’t wait for them this year!

Also joining the bill is Cardiff Based BARE LEFT who, after a string of successful gigs across South Wales and London, are looking to unleash their music on the festival circuit.
