Two exciting headliners and 30 of the best new bands from across the West Midlands are set to play Barr Beacon in this years’ Bands On The Beacon on the weekend of the 27th and 28th June on the site known for its stunning views across eleven counties.
Over 5,000 people are expected to flock to each day of the event with organisers promising it will be bigger and better than ever as festival-goers can expected to be treated not only to a host of the best acts in the region on two stages but two headliners rocketing in popularity.
Music fans from around the region will be treated to a large variety of musical genres from indie; to classic rock; to the very best of acoustic artists to quality pop at this year’s family-friendly festival.
Saturday’s main stage will be headlined by the fantastic, Halesowen born Esther. Esther was recently invited to be main support for none other than pop royalty The Jacksons and has been invited to Las Vegas to write with Jackie Jackson. Esther has also played prior to shows by Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran at the LG Arena as well as main support to X Factor’s The Stereokicks and has even been invited to perform to 10,000 people at this year’s British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
The festival Sunday is headlined by The Sherlocks with Birmingham’s Ben Drummond headlining the acoustic stage the same day. The Sherlocks have recently completed a sold out UK tour and have been added to a host of festivals including Leeds & Reading and the Isle of Wight and are about to be main support to the classic British band James.
The main stage will also see Black Country acts Klasside, Medusa Rising, Khaliq, Pleasure House, Soley Mourning, George’s FLW, The Interpreters Regale, Sunday 44, Dinky, Hidden Skies and Liberty Lies.
Commenting on this year’s event Councillor Adrian Andrew, chair of Barr Beacon Trust, said: “If you enjoy music you won’t just like the bands on the beacon event this year, you will love it!We have selected 30 of some of the best live music acts around for this year’s two day event and it looks set to be a really great festival for all with an array of musical tastes catered for.
“This year we are calling on music fans to do their bit to help make sure that we keep the bands on the Beacon an annual event.
“You don’t often get a chance to see such a large selection of live acts for such a small cost and ticket sales will help to go a long way to keep the bands on the beacon flag flying.“
The weekend on the acoustic stage includes headliners Ben Drummond and Strumpit along with artists from across the region including, James Atwood, Rumours of Spring, Demi Marriner, Kadaridis, Molly GH, Theo Born Musician and Third Angle Projection, World Service, Leah Astbury, Sarah Martyn, New Spirit, Mike ‘irv’ Swift, Joshua Sole, Elmore Row and Eeek.
To accompany this musical extravaganza Walsall’s very own award winning Backyard Brewhouse will have a selection of their finest offerings available on both days.
Tickets for the event are now for just £4 for adults, only £1 for the 5 to 15s and Under 5s are free.
Festival hours are 12.30pm-6pm each day.
