Truck Festival described by the Guardian as “the godfather of the small festival scene”. Takes place in just over two weeks at Hill Farm, Steventon from 19-20 July.
It’s a truly eclectic line-up with never a dull moment. Headlining are The Horrors and space rock band Spiritualized; support by Ash and The Subways. Also on the bill are: Dry the River, ex-Supergrass frontman Gaz Coombes, Dan le Sac & Scroobius Pip, The Joy Formidable, Rolo Tomassi, We Are The Ocean, Bo Ningen, Frankie & The Heartstrings and Patrick Wolf plus many more.
This year Truck has two new stages. The “Veterans and Virgins” tent is featuring acts new to Truck and those who have appeared many times, back in the day. The new ones have been chosen by BBC Introducing, and Truck veterans include the weird and wonderful Fonda 500, Brighton pop maestros, Electric Soft Parade, that great inventor of bespoke instruments, Thomas Truax, and socially-baffled virtuoso pianist, Luke Smith.
The second stage is the specially-constructed Great Western Whiskey Saloon & Blues Kitchen (in association with Clubhouse Records). Acts include the one and only, Original Rabbit Foot Spasm Band, Harmonious Society and steel-guitar-totin’ Redlands Palomino Co.
The full line up can be found here
And with a Food Festival run by the Rotary Club and entertainment by the Bureau of Silly Sports (think welly-wanging and broom hockey...), it’s not hard to see how Truck is also seen as a kind of warped village fete.
