The Festival will be a sensational ballooning, aerial and music extravaganza taking place from Friday 12th July to Sunday 14th July inclusive at the combined Petroc College/Tiverton Campus on Bolham Road, Tiverton. The Tiverton Balloon Festival is a fantastic local event and over the last 2 years it has helped raise more than £15,000 for local charities, including the Devon Air Ambulance, Children’s Hospice South West and the Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF).
‘The Times’ newspaper listed the 2012 event as one of the "Five things to visit” over the Bank Holiday weekend. Both BBC and ITV attended the event. There was radio coverage with BBC Radio Devon (4 separate interviews) and Radio Exe (2 interviews and live reporting on the Friday). Media Agencies attending the event included: Heart FM (from London office), BBC Spotlight and North Devon Reporters, Express & Echo / Western Morning News, Exmouth Herald / Exmouth Journal, Apex News & Pictures (representing London Metro and national papers), North Devon Gazette, Herald Express, Mid Devon Gazette, Radio Devon, Wellington Weekly. Despite appalling weather on the first 2 days, over 9,000 people visited the Festival with 25% of those visitors travelling from more than 3 hours away.
The core of the 2013 Festival will be similar to 2012 including hot air balloons; evening ‘Fire and Light’ shows; falconry displays; various main ring events; over 20 live music acts; Taste of the West caterers serving the best of local produce; local ales; a planetarium; children’s workshops; a Kids Zone. Additional attractions planned for 2013 are a Food & Drink Pavilion organised by Taste of the West, a Craft Marquee and a second Music Stage.
The Tiverton Balloon Festival is a fantastic local event attracting visitors from all over the UK (and abroad!).
