Indie rockers The Sunshine Underground (TSU) are set to bring their foot stomping, sing-a-long set to this years music extravaganza Stockton Calling as the band headline the events biggest stage at ARC

The Leeds based party starters join the seven-stage crawl on Saturday 30th March alongside fellow headliners Chapel Club, Nine Black Alps, Fossil Collective and Jon Windle

One of the brightest new acts to emerge in 2012, TOY, will also play the stage at ARC.

TSU came to prominence in 2006 with their debut album Raise the Alarm, which spawned hits Borders and Put You In Your Place. The band supported LCD Soundsystem on tour and went on to perform a sell out headline tour.

The success continued as the band played Glastonbury, T in the Park, Reading and Leeds, released their second album Nobody’s Coming to Save You and again toured the country to sell out crowds.

The band return in 2013 with new material and their headline slot at ARC comes right before the band tour the UK, with dates in London and Stoke already sold out.

Festival organizer Jimmy Beck said “We’re delighted to have captured TSU, they’ve got excellent festival pedigree so having them come to Stockton is a real coupe.”

Psychedelic rock band TOY took 2012 by storm being touted as one to watch from the outset. The bands self-titled debut album was named on numerous Best Albums of 2012, including 6Music that gave the band huge airplay throughout the year.

The band were set to perform at Stockton Weekender but had to pull out at the last minute due to sickness, so their performance at Stockton Calling will be highly anticipated.

Chris Cobain, festival organizer, commented “The quality of acts on the festival just keeps getting stronger; TOY had great success in 2012 and are a brilliant live band so will definitely be a highlight of this years festival.”

Also confirmed for ARC’s stage is Exit Calm. Hailing from Barnsley, the quartet has been compared to My Bloody Valentine and Spiritualized. Their euphoric live shows have attracted them spates of attention.

Local representation comes from alternative troupe Weird Shapes who played T in the Park in 2012 to great acclaim.

More acts are still to be announced for ARC, KU Bar, The Georgian Theatre, The Storytellers, The Sun Inn, The Green Room and The Vault.

Tickets are priced £14.50 in advance and £17.50 on the day, and on sale now. or call 01642 525199/01642 674115 or buy them in person at ARC or Green Dragon Studios.
