On Saturday 18th August Strummer of Love Festival saw another string of outstanding performances from legendary acts and rising stars.

Shane MacGowan said: “I love Joe. We all still love Joe. God bless him. We’re here to commemorate his spirit.”

The Clash City Rockers main stage welcomed an assortment of other exciting acts. Alabama 3 brought their high tempo set to an eager crowd, whilst Dreadzone, Kitty Daisy & Lewis and King Charles entertained the crowds throughout the sun soaked Saturday.

On the Johnny Appleseed stage Basement Jaxx and Don Letts kept the party going until the small hours. Earlier in the day Palma Violets, The Whip, Dub Pistols and Beans on Toast brought an eclectic variety of outstanding entertainment to the festival’s second stage.

Strummer of Love, a one-off festival to commemorate the late great Joe Strummer, is taking place in the Blackdown Hills – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – in Somerset.

On Sunday the stages will play host to the likes of The Justice Tonight Band (featuring Mick Jones, Pete Wylie, John Power & The Farm), KT Tunstall, Slow Club, Roots Manuva and Emmy the Great.

In honour of Strummer’s world views proceeds from the festival will benefit the work of Strummerville: The Joe Strummer New Music Foundation, which was set up in the singer’s memory by his friends and family following his untimely death.
