Shambala wants you to bring a bottle of water along to this year's festival

There are huge areas of floating plastic and polystyrene debris in the South Pacific. It’s harmful for wildlife and the plastics break down into tiny particles entering the entire food chain. The issue and associated images act as a striking illustration of how wasteful and irresponsible modern consumer society can be. So Shambala have decided theye don’t want Shambala to be part of this so they are becoming the first bottled-water-free UK festival, meaning that there will be no bottles of water on sale anywhere at the festival this year!

They will be asking all crew, artists and festival-goers to bring a permanent water bottle (not glass!) with them and re-use it. To help this initiative work for everyone, they are installing loads more taps across the site and providing free chilled and filtered water at all the main bars! And for those who forget to bring a bottle, we’ll have a limited number of permanent water bottles for sale onsite, with all income going to water charity FRANK. We will prevent over 10,000 plastic bottles being used once and chucked away and help keep the site tidy at the same time.

We will be working with charity FRANK Water on this initiative who will be providing BPA-free permanent water bottles for sale at their stall, free chilled water, and information about the water development projects we will be supporting.
