Tom Odell and the Happy Mondays will headline this year’s Splendour festival held at Wollaton Park in Nottingham on Saturday the 19th July 2014.
Odell’s appearance at Splendour on Saturday 19 July in front of up to 20,000 people will be his biggest headline performance to date.
The Happy Mondays are set to continue their revival following critical acclaim for the reunited original line up’s live shows celebrating the 25th anniversary of their classic ‘Bummed’ album.
Tickets for Splendour are on sale here. Standard entry £42.50 Promoter DHP Family is promising a line up of more than 30 top acts playing across three stages with other artists to be announced in the next few weeks.
George Akins of promoter DHP Family said: “After last year’s barnstorming headline set by local hero Jake Bugg we’re delighted to give another rising young artist a chance to play to such a large crowd. Tom Odell has become a big star over the past year while the Happy Mondays are a brilliant live act and a real crowd favourite.”
DHP Family runs Splendour in partnership with Nottingham City Council, which operates the beautiful festival site of Wollaton Park. While its natural amphitheatre surrounds the main stage there is also plenty of parkland to roam and enjoy the festival’s alternative entertainments including the comedy stage, children’s fun fair, and dozens of market stalls.
Cllr Dave Trimble, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture at Nottingham City Council, said: “This is a great line up for our popular family festival, Splendour, and I’m sure Tom Odell will build on Jake Bugg’s fantastic headline performance last year. Splendour offers something for all tastes in music, and with the comedy stage and kids’ area it’s a really fun family day out.”
In the run up to the festival the search for the stars of tomorrow will take place with NUSIC running its annual Future Sound of Nottingham competition. The finalists will battle it out in a showdown at Rock City to win the opening slot on the Splendour main stage.
