Soul II Soul have been announced as the Sunday night headliners on the 21st September at this year’s Ramsbottom Festival. The group will be bringing its cool fusion of reggae, blues and dance vibes to Lancashire’s laid-back festival. Led by DJ Jazzie B, the group is currently celebrating its 25th year in the industry and to date has sold over 10 million albums worldwide. The Levellers will be headlining on Friday with British Sea Power topping the bill on Saturday.
Two more acts have also been announced as part of Friday’s line-up; Manchester quartet The Tapestry, which following stints supporting the likes of Pete Doherty and The Strypes will be performing its own brand of dirty garage pop and newly-signed Northern three-piece Berlin Berlin, which is celebrating the release of its debut single, ‘Josef’. Joining the bill for Saturday’s lineup is Thugs on Wolves, presenting their signature tribal beats, electronic surges and folksy harmonies.
Also new for this year will be the Chameleon Stage, featuring artists programmed by Manchester’s The Big Slice, which works to champion and find platforms for rising home grown talent. It will be presenting up-and-coming solo vocalist and instrumentalist Rum Thief, acoustic folk singer/songwriter Matt Hamer and five-piece band Second Hand Wings on the Sunday afternoon.
