*BIG 4, DIAMOND HEAD & KILLING JOKE SCOOP METAL HAMMER AWARDS*

BIFFY CLYRO, YOU ME AT SIX & ALL TIME LOW WIN AT K! AWARDS

SONISPHERE this year saw three of its acts receive awards at last night’s METAL HAMMER GOLDEN GODS AWARDS, which took place at the O2’s Indigo venue, hot off the back of Thursday’s KERRANG! AWARDS, which also saw three victories for SONISPHERE.

Presented by legendary shock rocker ALICE COOPER, who headlined the Friday night slot on the SATURN ARENA stage at last year’s SONISPHERE, the coming together of THE BIG 4 beat System Of A Down’s reformation and the return of Rob Zombie, Manowar and Beavis and Butthead to claim the “Best Event” award at the Golden Gods, which was received by Anthrax’s Rob Caggiano and SONISPHERE’s Stuart Galbraith and Alan Day.

"As you can imagine, making this happen was a hell of a job and took a lot of long days and late nights, but seeing all the fans around the world witnessing the metal miracle they thought would never come made it all worthwhile” commented Stuart. “To know that this is officially the most exciting event in the metal world makes the debut BIG 4 UK performance next month all the more special and team SONISPHERE can't wait to see the fans at Knebworth finally getting what they've waited for all these years"

Brian Tatler of DIAMOND HEAD, who open for the BIG 4 at KNEBWORTH on July 8th, received the “Spirit Of Hammer” Award, and KILLING JOKE - who play straight after the BIG 4 on the Friday - took “Best New Album” for Absolute Dissent, received by frontman Jaz Coleman and bassist Youth.

Last Thursday at The Brewery in Chiswell Street, ANTHRAX’s Scott Ian and SLIPKNOT’s Corey Taylor presented the KERRANG! AWARDS, which saw SONISPHERE claim another three victories. Taking the “Classic Songwriter” Award were Saturday headliners BIFFY CLYRO, with YOU ME AT SIX claiming “Best British Band”, and ALL TIME LOW winning in the “Best Live Band” category.

The prestigious awards come after news that SONISPHERE FESTIVAL has successfully applied for increased capacity for the 2011 event at KNEBWORTH, and has received approval to release more tickets.

Due to space restrictions on the campsite, the increased capacity does not allow for extra weekend/camping tickets to be made available, but an extra allocation of single day tickets are on sale now. Day tickets are priced at £80 + booking fee and are available from http://bit.ly/jPc4wg
With weekend camping tickets nearly sold out, those wishing to come and enjoy the full weekend and all SONISPHERE has to offer are advised to secure their tickets quickly.

SONISPHERE KNEBWORTH takes place 8th - 10th July 2011 at KNEBWORTH HOUSE.
