Families can have their holiday dreams come true with the action-packed programme of fun sessions and performances at Blackmore Gardens, as well as a quality series of Family Evening Concerts.
Dancers will have so much to enjoy in 2015, with a new Social Dance co-ordinator at the helm, promising a challenging and diverse programme of dances and workshops. Ceilidhs, including an Open Air ceilidh, guarantee knee-raising fun with a monster line-up of dancefloor favourites. And, as ever, the streets and venues will be filled with the diverse and colourful displays of dance traditions from around the British Isles.
Intimate concerts at many of the smaller venues around the town allow the rare opportunity to experience many of the festival guests in an up close and personal setting – including the popular fRoots’ left-field afternoons at Carinas, EFDSS’ Folk Rising Plus showcase for new talent at the Bedford, traditional music and song at Woodlands amongst many others.
Renowned for its focus on hands on participation, FolkWeek has a wonderful 200+ workshop events programme being planned. Festival visitors can learn new skills, develop established talents, try one-off tasters or get involved in week-long series in a wealth of diverse music, dance and song sessions – from Shapenote singing to melodeon playing via European dancing.
