There will be a festival atmosphere at the Words and Music conference for musicians and music workers with a series of evening showcase gigs in venues across Perth City Centre. The free gigs are open to the public as well as attenders at the two-day gathering.  

Up and coming bands are being invited to apply for one of six showcase slots in support of the main acts which include Fatherson, Fake Major, We Came From Wolves, Findlay Napier, Alasdair Roberts, Siobhan Wilson and Fiona Hunter who will be playing in The Twa Tams, The Green Room and Greyfriars Bar

Created by Horsecross Arts in collaboration with Perth College UHI and the Traditional Music Forum, Words and Music is a gathering for musicians and music workers from across Scotland and beyond.  

Packed with practical tips, networking opportunities, and evening showcases the two-day conference in Perth Concert Hall on Friday 14 and Saturday 15 March aims to inspire, educate and entertain musicians of all genres at all stages of their careers. 

Music students, early-career musicians, professional players and music industry workers are all expected to flock to the event which features panel discussions with music industry experts including Admiral Fallow, Karine Polwart, Pete Wishart, Findlay Napier, Paul Fenn, Robert Hicks, Patsy Reid, Inner Ear, Comets & Cartwheels, Nicola Meighan, Rod Jones and more to be announced.  Subjects covered include fundraising, marketing, legal issues, making recordings, sales and publishing.
