The stellar line-up includes some of the most popular artists on the planet - from indie rock to rap, from techno to beatbox – Shakedown will be a musical mash-up of epic proportions.

Joining them on the main stage will be Grammy award winning King of Cool DJ Mark Ronson, the UK’s hottest rap-star Example, a DJ set from legendary dance act 2manyDJs to close the Dance Arena, a live performance by epic Drum & Bass act Sub Focus, a set from Radio 1  DJ Zane Lowe, Brighton’s own international hit producers the Freemasons, Brightonian beatbox master, Beardyman, DJ sets from the amazing Kissy Sell Out (with MC Cobra) and Radio 1’s Jaymo & Andy George,  Mixmag’s ‘Star of the Year’, Riva Starr, international house double-act Prok and Fitch underground rising sensation Yasmin, and techno mastermind Thomas Gandey (Caged Baby).

From 2pm to midnight, a gathering of 20,000 music lovers will fill the city’s most beautiful park to enjoy live sets across multiple stages including the Main Stage and a massive Dance Arena. Two of Brighton’s most successful club brands De Puta Madre and Supercharged will be hosting stages showcasing the best DJs and bands Brighton has to offer. The Honey Club, a Brighton institution, will be hosting the VIP area in association with one of its most successful nights the Hat Club.

Shakedown has been created by music festival heavyweights Matt Priest and Peter Haywood in partnership with Brighton radio presenter Steve Jones.  Between them the group have delivered a raft of large-scale outdoor festivals and concerts including Global Gathering, Godskitchen and Love Parade.  The festival is assisted by Ingenious Media who bring not only funding to the project, but also a wealth of experience through their partnerships with similar events such as Creamfields, 80s Rewind, Field Day and Underage festivals.

The former Head of Radio 1 Live Events, Matt Priest, today said, ‘We are very excited to bring great music to such a great city. This July we will deliver exactly what Brighton has been waiting for; a world class music festival and the hottest ticket of the summer’.

Councillor David Smith, Cabinet Member for Culture, Recreation & Tourism at Brighton & Hove City Council commented, ’Brighton & Hove has a fantastic reputation as the UK’s best festival city and the Shakedown Festival is an exciting new addition to our year-round calendar.  I’m sure that the event will bring great enjoyment and happiness to the thousands expected to attend from both near and far.’
