Sark Folk Festival organisers have announced the first major act for the 2013 festival: Mercury-nominated singer-songwriter, and virtuoso fiddler, Seth Lakeman. This news is announced as Sark Folk Festival is nominated for a national award. The festival, which is already a sell-out, will take place on 5-7 July 2013.

Seth Lakeman, who will be performing with his band, is a world-renowned musician from Devon. He has released six albums to date, appeared on TV and at major festivals around the world. Before he comes to Sark his 2013 tour will take him to Australia, Germany, Holland and the UK. Seth’s brother, Sean Lakeman, appeared at the 2012 Sark Folk Festival and was one of the highlights, performing with his wife Kathryn Roberts.

Festival founder, Simon Harvey, said “It’s been a phenomenal start to the planning for 2013’s festival. First we sold all our weekend tickets within three days, which was unprecedented – last year it took three months to do that. Secondly we are really excited to confirm Seth for this year’s festival. To have a world-renowned musician like Seth wanting to come to our little festival is absolutely fantastic. And then being nominated for the Spiral Earth Best Festival Award is the icing on the cake.”
