Rugby’s own Battle of the Bands tournament is now live. Entries are invited by organisers of Rugby Music Festival, who are also organising the Battle in conjunction with live music venue The Bank in central Rugby. The top prize for the winners of this year’s competition is the chance to play live at RMF2013 on Sunday 18th August in Caldecott Park. Last year’s RMF attracted over 7,000 people so this is a unique opportunity.

The Battle will take place over heats in May and June and a final in July. David Head, organiser of the competition said “This is a great chance for young bands to show what they can do. We want lots of entries, and we will pick the best 8 to go into the live heats. It’s going to be a lot of fun and we can’t wait to see the talent we know is out there.

“Plus of course we want Rugby’s live music fans to join us at The Bank on May 10, June 7 and July 5. Cheer on your favourites and make sure our judges know what the crowd really want.”

Bands from duos up to sextets can enter, though they have to be local and they have to be able to play original material as well as covers. The full rules and details of how to enter are at the Rugby Music Festival website HERE

RMF also features on Facebook and Twitter(@rugbymusicfest).
