Richard Thompson will be joining the line up of headliners’ for Folk By The Oaks 7th annual one day Festival. Richard, named one of Rolling Stone’s Top 20 Guitarists of All Time, is one of the world’s most critically acclaimed and prolific songwriters. Having co-founded the groundbreaking group Fairport Convention as a teenager in the 60’s Richard and his mates virtually invented British Folk Rock.

A Wide range of musicians have recorded Thompson’s music, including Robert Plant, Elvis Costello and REM and Thompson’s massive body of work includes over 40 albums, many Grammy nominations as well as numerous soundtracks.

Thompson’s genre defying mastery of both acoustic and electric guitar along with dizzying energy and onstage wit continue to earn Richard new fans and a place as one of the most distinctive virtuosos in folk rock history.

“We are really delighted with this addition to our line-up” says Festival Director Adam Slough. “The Folk by the Oak team have developed a reputation for putting on a truly memorable one day festival and Richard will bring so much talent and excitement to what is already a star filled programme this year.”
