Tees Music Alliance (TMA) has today announced  more acts for this years Stockton Weekender as it’s Early Bird prices heads in to it’s final week.

The newly named Wunderbar Tent will be filled with a variety of music and comedy acts over the weekend. Providing the funnies on Saturday night is "one of the leading hidden masters of modern British comedy" (British Theatre Guide) Richard Herring.

One half of double act Lee & Herring, the five-star comic has been a force to be reckoned with on the comedy scene for almost 20 years, boasting ten national tours, thirteen Edinburgh Festival stints, eight DVD releases, five TV series, eight radio shows and countless comedy panel show appearances.

Richard heads to the festival on his way to Edinburgh Festival with his latest solo show, We’re All Going To Die, and will be previewing his new material to the Weekender crowds.

Spiritualized, who recently played Coachella, heartfelt rockers Kodaline, Rolling Stones choice support act King Charles, Teesside prog rockers Weird Shapes, surf rock grunge trio Wild Smiles and the winner of the Vela Edge Competition, will join Primal Scream on the Main Stage line up on Saturday 27th July.

The Vela Stage, which sits alongside the Main Stage, will welcome Sunderland super group B>E>A>K, fuzzed out rockers The History of Apple Pie, DrownedInSound favourites Hey Sholay, Sunderland’s 60s influenced The Sons of Bido Lito, Hartlepool alt rockers Palace and Stockton’s roof raising The Panoramic. 6Music regulars Temples will headline the stage, warming the crowd up nicely for Primal Scream.

Sunday 28th July Main Stage sees the addition of local acts Collectors Club, who recently had their music soundtrack E4 show Made In Chelsea, and songstress Sarah Proctor, alongside headliners Dexys, Scottish duo The Proclaimers, The Coral lead man’s new project James Skelly & The Intenders, new-wave popsters Dutch Uncles, Sunderland’s Frankie & The Heartstrings and impassioned singer Bo Bruce.

Transatlantic trio Sparrow & The Workshop will headline the Vela Stage on Sunday. The band have toured with many bands including the Pogues, Idlewild and British Sea Power and have performed at major music festivals including Glastonbury, Green Man, Hop Farm, Bestival and End of the Road Festival. 

Joining them are Hartlepool juggernauts The Jar Family, Teesside’s answer to Arcade Fire Abel Raise The Cain, the anthemic Sons & Lovers, Foals-esque Tusk, Beatles influenced Alistair Sheerin Band and energetic rockers The Purnells.

Canadian funny man Craig Campbell will headline Sunday night with Teesside’s answer to Whose Line Is It Anyway Hoist The Rag performing both nights, engaging the audience in a little improvised comedy.

Adding a little music to the tent on Saturday is 7 piece Northern Soul addicts The Roundels and gypsy jazz, 1930s swing, hokum blues, country and soulful folk fusing Rob Heron & The Teapad Orchestra, who recently impressed at Stockton Calling. 

On Sunday electro swing sensation Little Violet, indie folk outfit Holy Moly and The Crackers, ventriloquist dolls, rockabilly / doo-wop combining act Old Muggins, and the 16-strong Stockton to Darlington Ukulele Express will entertain the music loving crowds.

The Georgian Theatre will stage a day of Alternative music on Saturday 27th July, which will be free entry to all. Set to perform are the dark-stark Goy Boy McIlroy, Manchester’s garage pop duo Brown Brogues, punchy noiseniks Year of Birds, sub-pop styled The Oxfam Glamour Models, the reverb drenched Retriever and former High Plane Drifters get up The Approved.

The Kids Are Solid Gold provide the official after show party on Saturday 27th July with a night of hip-hop featuring the award winning Clement Marfo and Scottish troupe Stanley Odd.

Further acts are still to be announced for the Georgian Theatre and Wunderbar Tent.

TMA are encouraging festivalgoers to book early and take advantage of the incredibly low prices – some of the lowest in the country for the calibre of artists. The cost of tickets will go up by £5 on 1st May.Tickets are on sale here at Early Bird prices of £25 a day, £35 for the weekend and £70 for camping. Ticket prices will increase in price from 1 May onwards.

Stockton Weekender 2013 takes place at Stockton Riverside Park, Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham, between Sat 27th to Sun 28th July 2013. 

As in previous years each adult ticket entitles the holder to 2 free Under 14s tickets.
