Each year the Rhythmtree chooses a charity to support out of the many that apply. They select the charity to using three simple criteria.

1) The charity must be Isle of Wight based.

2) It must be aimed at improving the lives of children and young people.

3) It must have a pretty clear and simple solution to the problem it wants to address.

Roll Out The Barrel met these criteria really well and when they received an application for support from them what struck them, like many really good ideas in life, was ‘Why hadn’t anybody thought of this before’!  The Rhythmtree will be supporting and promoting this charity before and during the festival in July and we hope you can through your publication. Find out more about the charity here.

'Nearly one billion people lack access to clean safe water and 2.4 billion have no sanitation.  As many as 3 billion people collect water in canisters and jerry cans and the children are expected to undertake this task from the age of 4.

Roll out the Barrel sends thousands of Rotary Water Barrels to women and children around the world who currently have to collect their water from streams and rivers in buckets or jerry cans and carry that water as far as 6 miles every day, usually on their heads or backs.

With a Rotary barrel they push or pull their water, quickly, easily and with no burden, improving health and providing time for education.'
