Rhythms of the World has grown at a rapid rate over the last five years to become one of the UK’s biggest and best-value world music festivals. Listen to some of the acts on their rotwpresents soundcloud here....

Named as one of Songlines magazine’s Top 10 Summer Festivals in 2012 alongside the likes of Latitude and Womad, it has recently played host to some huge acts such as Raghu Dixit, C.W Stoneking and Mercury Prize winner Speech Debelle. One of its core purposes is to provide a platform for up and coming talent from Hertfordshire and beyond.

With no main festival in 2013, Rhythms of the World is still dedicated to showcasing great music. Having already put on events this year featuring ‘Get Cape Wear Cape Fly’ and DJ Derek, the charity is proud to present an exclusive showcase at the Alternative Escape.

It is a line-up which boasts the brilliant singer-songwriter from Brighton John Smith, soon set to support 'Iron and Wine', as well as headlining his own show at London’s Union Chapel later in the year. Also appearing is 'Fort Hope', the phoenix which has risen triumphantly from the flames of former disco-metal darlings 'My Passion'.

The event is complemented by another three cutting-edge alternative rock/electronica bands. 'Sons of Guns', 'Crap Crab' and 'Kumara Junction' appear downstairs and another three wonderfully talented acoustic singer-songwriters upstairs - Jordan Bradley, Holly Knowles and Alex Holmes. This is the must-see event at the Alternative Escape!

Rhythms of the World would like to thank Constant Power Services Ltd for their support in making this event happen.
