Radio 1s Big Weekend heads to Glasgow

Nick Grimshaw has today announced during his Radio1 Breakfast Show, live from Scotland, that this year's Radio 1's Big Weekend will take place in Glasgow. Rita Ora and Paolo Nutini are the first artists confirmed for the free event which is now in its 11th year.
Glasgow who will also be hosting the 2014 Commonwealth Games, will also open the doors to Radio 1's Academy from 10-16 May. Hoping to inspire local 16 to 19-year-olds by inviting them to attend radio shows, master classes and Q&As.
Around 50,000 music fans will be able to attend the festival taking place between 24th and 25th May, highlights will also be broadcast live on BBC Three. Further news of the ticketing details will be announced in March.
