More line-up details announced for the Rock and  Blues Old School Weekender in Derbyshire here:

Rock legends The Quireboys have been announced as headliner for the Rock & Blues Old School Weekender at Pentrich, Derbyshire, from July 25-27.

The band, who top the bill on the Friday night, are promoting their excellent new studio album Beautiful Curse.

The Quireboys were formed and after two successful independent singles (including the Top 40 “7 O’Clock”) and supports to the likes of Guns N Roses, Sharon Osbourne was appointed as manager and The Quireboys were signed to EMI for the release of their debut album, A Bit of What You Fancy.  The album entered the UK Album Chart at No. 2 and was compared favourably to British rock names such as Rod Stewart and The Faces.

The Quireboys toured for the next year playing with the likes of L.A. Guns, Soundgarden, The Cramps, Iggy Pop and The Rolling Stones. The long touring schedule was finished off with a gig in Japan at the Tokyo Dome on New Year’s Eve in front of 50,000 people. 1993 saw the band release the follow up album, Bitter Sweet & Twisted and run support to Guns N Roses on their "Use Your Illusion Tour", before going on hiatus only to reunite for a series of exclusive shows

A more permanent reformation came just after 2001 with frontman Spike, guitarists Guy Griffin and Paul Guerin, and Keith Weir on keyboards that, to this date, remain the back bone of the band.

Saturday headliners are Chris Slade's Timeline, featuring former AC/DC drummer Chris Slade. He was with the band for Monsters Of Rock in 1991 when they recorded the seminal 'Live At Donington' dvd and, celebrating 50 years in the industry, has also drummed for Manfred Mann's Earthband, Uriah Heep, ASIA, Tom Jones, The Firm, Gary Moore, Jimmy Page, David Gilmour, Gary Numan, Olivia Newton John, Count Basie.

The bill also includes Rock & Blues favourites Dr & The Medics, heralded UK rockers Trucker Diablo, the rejuvenated Apes, Pigs & Spacemen (acoustic) and Ed Tudor-Pole, formerly of Tenpole Tudor. There’s also a range of local and tribute acts, plus the traditional motorcycle related entertainment including a large custom show.

At only £35adv (£45 OTG) for a weekend ticket including camping, the Rock & Blues Old School Weekender is one of the best value events around. Admission is free for under 14s.
