OnBlackheath festival, in partnership with John Lewis, is set to return next year on the weekend of Saturday 12 & Sunday 13 September 2015. Over 25,000 festivalgoers attended the first ever food and music festival that took place in Blackheath, London, in September 2014, with memorable headline slots from Massive Attack, Frank Turner and Grace Jones. The weekend proved to be a rousing triumph of incredible music and innovative immersive food experiences. OnBlackheath 2014 was shortlisted for three prestigious UK Festival Awards including Best New Festival, Line-Up of the Year and Concession of the Year.
OnBlackheath organisers said: “We are delighted to announce OnBlackheath will be back for 2015. We couldn’t be happier with how the opening year of the festival went and we received overwhelming feedback from festivalgoers. There was something for everyone including our Kid’s Area and Chef’s Club, which added a fantastic dimension to the festival. We look forward to revealing our line up for 2015 in the New Year ”.
OnBlackheath 2014 featured well-known chefs offering up their delicious dishes in Gizzi’s Chefs’ Club, hosted by Gizzi Erskine. This included Richard Bainbridge’s hearty Sunday roast, Neil Rankin’s delectable duck, and afternoon tea from the Meringue Girls.
As well as the food and music entertainment, visitors were treated to a whole host of other attractions including hoola hooping with the unstoppable Marawa the Amazing and her team of hooping Majorettes; The Flying Seagull Project and their ragtag team of travelling musical clowns as well as sack races, egg and spoon races and tug-o-war. Crowd also got into the groove with the Swing Patrol and their swing dance classes; learnt beat-boxing and do graffiti t-shirt design workshops with the crew from the Urban Arts Experience… and a whole lot more.
