That wonderful twice yearly jamboree that is Off The Tracks returns to Donington Park Farmhouse, Derbyshire Friday 31st August – Sunday 2nd September.

The event is now twenty four years old and our Festival For All reviewers think this festival is an absolute cracker. It may change your perceptions of what a festival could be and should be for ever! (Read the 2011 Summer review HERE.)

The Off The Tracks (OTT) location is based in and around converted farm buildings with adjacent camping on a year round permanent camp site. Yep – permanent quality loos and showers! There is a real pub and diner on-site - Even better! Along with the barn stages they have a marquee in the farmyard for the summer event so the event is totally under cover – just the job for August 2012! Like the sound of this?  Well throw in a real ale festival with 80+ beers, ciders, and perries to complement an extensive bar in the pub (and all at ‘pub prices’, because, er, it’s a pub!), and it’s shaping up nicely yes? Small enough to be intimate; large enough to have real substance, and when you add 24 years of festival experience and genuinely some of the most eclectic and inspired musical programming our reviewers have ever encountered, then you are maybe starting to get a feel for Off The Tracks.

Irrespective of size, some festivals may have ‘atmosphere’ but OTT has a ‘vibe’; sometimes so thick you could slice it. It’s full of those very special ‘festie moments’ where you wish you could bottle it and take it home. The cherry on the cake of course, is that the good folks at OTT offer you all this TWICE a year. Blimey!

OTT is one of those rare events where knowing the line-up in advance really doesn’t matter – you can trust these guys to consistently offer quality programming year upon year; indeed some of the lower order acts our reviewers have experienced have provided some of the best performances of the festival year. The 24th summer event offers yet another polished line-up including the excellent Dub Pistols (back by popular demand!), The Beat, Banco de Gaia, Edward II, Dodgy, plus some absolute curve balls like Biggles Wartime Band and the Re-Entrants! Add to that a host of festive fun with the likes of the Energy Orchard and Silent Disco, plus all the impromptu happenings that OTT is famous for, and this should be one hell of a festival.
