John Doran meets lead singer of post-punk band PiL and former Sex Pistols legend, John Lydon.
In the film Lydon talks about his community led values, his ‘proper London, working class’ background and how he is inspired by iconic figures such as Gandhi and Nelson Mandela. At one point he even states that his message is the same as Mandela's; “One world, one race. Not us and them but us, all of us.”
During this frank interview Lydon admits that lyrics from the popular track ‘Death Disco’ were a direct response to the emotions he felt whilst dealing with the devastating fatalities of his mother, father, step daughter and several friends.
This is the eighth chapter of Noisey's British Masters series, which has previously featured the likes of Bryan Ferry, Adam Ant, Johnny Marr and Gary Numan.
