After seven years, the Sunrise festival crew has decided it’s time for a change. The old Sunrise Celebration festival fittingly completed its cycle of life in 2012 and so this year we see a complete shake up and shift in musical direction, taking the very best elements from folk music and psy trance, the exciting new team behind Sunrise have broadened their musical focus and have created an amazing new festival with it’s roots firmly based in the UK music scene.

This awesome new shift in musical direction has shaped the entire way the line up is being managed, with curation of the main stage being managed in an wholly unique and exciting way; each night sees a main host act, responsible for booking and managing ‘their’ own stage for the night. This distinctive approach to programming means that they get to showcase the best of UK music, from the very people at the helm.

On Friday we see the main stage open to showcase the Legends of Beats and Breaks, headlined by the one and only Krafty Kuts, who is without doubt one of the world’s greatest DJ's. Lauded in the UK, worshiped in Australia, acclaimed in America, where ever he plays he is guaranteed to cause a commotion with his riotous skills. He brings with him The Freestylers, Utah Saints (Decks and FX) and DJ@War. Friday night is set to be a blinder.

On Saturday the host slot falls to festival favourites The Dub Pistols, festival legends and true stars of live performance, from their early singles for Concrete Records to their genre defying ‘Six Million Ways To Live’ lp, the Dub Pistols have always added a much needed Rock n Roll swagger to the UK’s dance scene. Chewing up hip-hop, dub, techno, ska & punk & spitting them out in a renegade futuristic skank they have consistently defied genres & exceeded the highest of expectations. There is no doubt that if The Dub Pistols are at a party, you need to be there! They will be bringing their top picks from the UK music scene; The Drop, Dancefloor Outlaws, Daddy Nature Drum Monkey and a top secret special guest, to be announced.

Sunday has a more ska funk influence with one of the biggest bands of the 2 tone movement The Beat taking the reigns. The Beat present a wall of sound that transcends time and ska fusion rhythms to ignite a crowd. They play with the sole aim of connecting with and entertaining their appreciative audience with their relentless energy and world class musicianship.

The Beat are known the world over for a string of hit singles, including "Mirror in the Bathroom", "Too Nice To Talk To", "Can't Get Used To Losing You", "Hands off She's Mine" and "All Out To Get You". Their songs of peace, love and unity fuse ska, pop, reggae and punk rock and their dynamic live show has garnered them a loyal following at home and abroad. The Beat will be introducing The Skints, Rankin Roger (dj set) and an amazing Battle of the Bands.

Sunrise festival will this year host two separate clubs on site with an insane mix of music stylings, it’s set to be very difficult where to spend your evening with The Best of the West DJs, Ghetto Funk and Babyhead curates, you’ll have some tough decisions to make when you get there. The whole shift in music focus this year is reflecting the new festival incarnation and representative of the wealth of amazing musical talent in the UK and Sunrise Another World will be giving the opportunity for local bands and artists to apply to perform at the festival via battle of the band events in the Somerset area.
