The Isle of Wight Festival is almost here and living up to its reputation, this year’s line-up mixes legendary artists with the hottest new acts. Headliners include an incredible UK festival exclusive – Fleetwood Mac – as well as The Black Keys, The Prodigy, Blur and performances by Pharrell and Paolo Nutini. Festivalgoers will also get to see the likes of First Aid Kit, Counting Crows, Kool & The Gang, James Bay, Kodaline, Jessie Ware and Jess Glynne.
This year the festival has added some new areas New for 2015 are: Strongbow Tree – Visible from all around the site, this 12 metre-high installation is topped with a DJ booth to entertain guests into the night. Festivalgoers can relax on loungers or dance away in the pavilion, enjoying games, giveaways and sampling from Strongbow.
Bulmers Colourena – An experience like no other, festivalgoers of all ages can head down to the Colourena to cheer, laugh, singalong and get involved in quirky challenges as teams battle it out for prizes.
Jack Rocks Stage – Jack Daniel’s has teamed up with rock ’n’ roll clubnight This Feeling to showcase emerging talent and host special guest slots from the likes of Zutons frontman Dave McCabe. With a late license until 2am, this stage keeps the party going into the early hours.
Electro Love – Transporting festivalgoers back to the 80s, this tent is packed with video games, BMX bikes, UV lights and bubble parties. Take a trip down memory lane and dance along to a soundtrack of DJ battles and tribute acts.
Cabaret Noir – This adults only venue plays host to the weird and wonderful. Set in a beautiful garden, contortionists, burlesque, a peep show, drag queens, fortune tellers, snake charmers and circus acts all inhabit this magical area. With a dedicated Cockatoo Bar and the Camp Cooks, this is where Festival memories are made.
At the other end of the scale, our free Kids Zone is set to entertain children and parents alike with a dedicated stage welcoming comedians, magicians and a puppet theatre. Young families can get into the festival spirit with more activities than ever before - circus workshops, a craft tent and costume as well as singing sessions, story-telling and a Mother and Baby tent for the really little ones.
Wandering further afield, Stand Up To Cancer will be bringing a huge water slide and music lovers of all ages can explore the secret garden path leading to The Bohemian Woods, relaxing in its magical and serene atmosphere. This year sees a brand new show in the woods on the Saturday as the Midnight Bakery crew team up with Cirque de la Quirk, taking visitors to another world packed with fire eaters and jugglers.
All these new additions sit alongside the Festival’s much loved areas including the Intoxicated Tea Rooms, Zebra Champagne Bar and Ace Casino, Hipshaker Lounge, Hey Joe Rock Bar and Hard Rock Stage and Garden.
You can re-live the Festival from the comfort of your own home. Danny Wallace and Edith Bowman are presenting a series of three two-hour programmes which are due to air the following weekend on Sky Arts. As well as live performances from the Main Stage and Big Top they’ll be wandering around the Festival site recording backstage interviews. If you don’t want to wait that long, Absolute Radio will be broadcasting live from the Festival with uninterrupted stage sets, special appearances and coverage on social media, including Periscope.
