LAND OF KINGS eagerly looks forward to the next Bank Holiday weekend with new line-up and stage announcements. First plans revealed today are for the Castle Stage presented in association with Desperados. New for 2013, the covered arena pops-up in the Bootstrap car park on Abbot Street featuring an all day programme of live music and DJs starting at 2pm.

Serving as the hub for the early part of the schedule, adjacent spaces: Thames House, Eastern Curve Garden, Dalston Roof Park, Café Oto and Arcola Tent will link up to create a part-indoor, part-outdoor site right off Dalston Junction. For the first time, LAND OF KINGS also takes over all three separate floors of Arcola Theatre’s recently refurbished Colourworks building on Ashwin Street.

Top of the list of newly added acts are 10-piece psychedelic ensemble Chrome Hoof blending doom metal, disco and acid house and somehow managing to make it work. Genre tags aside, it’s their frenetic live show that’s cemented their cult status, earning slots at festivals from Ether to Sonisphere, and supporting the likes of Justice along the way. Elsewhere, Sam Howard aka Halls airs his achingly sombre ‘Ark’ album, E8 ethereal dream wavers Paradise do theircosmic country’ thing and krautcore quartet Bo Ningen present a special improv set. Sleekly futuristic rockers PVT also join, Portico Quartet spin-off outfit Circle Traps showcase their mutated live 2-step sound, ex-Metronomy man Gabriel Stebbing plays under his Night Works guise and Seams brings his at times throbbing, at others luminescent take on electronica to the multi-venue format.

On the DJ front, hotly-tipped NTS Radio residents Dark Sky show why they’ve risen above the crop of their dubstep-meets-garage contemporaries, Dalston Superstore honcho Dan Beaumont lays down some proto-house, odd ball Balearic outfit Soft Rocks and Lowlife DJs delve into their ample if dusty vaults whilst one-to-watch Clancy weighs in with some heads-down, low slung disco. Joining the list of record label showcases previously announced, two more Hackney-based indie imprints Public Information and Petit Records represent, each bringing unique perspectives from the electronic underground. Also announced is the latest party: Bugged Out 10 x 10 featuring ten DJs playing their all time favourite dance records. Line-up TBA shortly.

Alongside the cream of Hackney’s music scenes, punters can dive into a network of multimedia and interactive goings on. First up on the newly added list, Vortex Vinyl Vernacular - a buy-and-play record fair from 12pm - 6pm in Gillet Square. Featuring a handpicked selection of independent traders and collectors, vinyl diggers can play their new purchases on the club’s turntables. Meanwhile, Eastern Curve gets taken over to become a cocktail den with live folk music by The Nest Collective, Arcola’s Big Top Tent hosts a menu of wonky happenings including Musical Bingo and Gideon Reeling, and on Dalston Roof Park, The Lost Picture show present their “Film Soundtrack Karaoke”. Following on from her acclaimed Greasy Spoon makeover at the festival in 2012, LAND OF KINGS welcomes back Hackney designer Camille Walala for a special commission ‘The Walala UV Room’ as well as lending her boldly graphic visuals and Art Direction to the Ashwin Street hub of the festival.
