Now regarded among many as the North-Easts premier independent rock music event. Make a Scene is a finely balanced mix – Celebrating the regions emerging talents blended with vibrant UK acts currently  soaring up through the ranks of the UK’s ever encouraging underground live music scene into the limelight they deserve. Taking place at Teesside University Students Union in Middlesbrough on Sunday 7th of July for an awesome day of live music followed by a suitably crazy after show party from Uprawr!

In the past the festival has welcomed popular acts such as Young Guns, The Lawrence Arms, Lower Than Atlantis, While She Sleeps, Skindred, Don Broco, TRC, Feed The Rhino, My Passion, Heights, Fearless Vampire Killers and countless local talents including that of 2012 X-factor winner James Arthur with his band Save Arcade.

This year’s show is headlined by melodic hardcore heavyweights BURY TOMORROW, whose recent breakthrough album “The Union of Crowns” has been met with widespread acclaim with fans and media alike. They are appearing at both Download and Reading and Leeds festivals this summer.

MALLORY KNOX – Who are hotly tipped as THE band to watch by the likes of Radio 1 and Rocksound Magazine will be play as main supports to Bury Tomorrow on this year’s line-up after a promising start to 2013 which has seen their debut album “Signals” break into the UK charts.  This year the band also signed to Search & Destroy Records and confirmed to open the main stage at the famous Reading & Leeds Festival. So we are thrilled to have them at Make a Scene for a full length set.

Joining them on the bill are UK masters of hardcore BRUTALITY WILL PREVAIL. Having spent the past few years furiously grinding the underground circuit:  In the truest D.I.Y spirit imaginable. BWP have built up a cultishly devoted and frenzied fan base. Ascending to the top of U.K. and European festival bills.

HACKTIVIST are another band turning heads in 2013. With a truly fresh and innovative sound: Uniting gritty urban grime and hip-hop vocals with monstrous Djent metal riffs. Imagine a sinister mash-up of Periphery and The Prodigy and you might just get somewhere close? Don’t miss the bandwagon.

Crowd pleasing Pop-Punkers SAVE YOUR BREATH are coming back to town to steal the hearts and infect minds with their catchy hooks and soaring sing along choruses.

Heights have just released their second studio album 'Old Lies for Young Lives', and it's a corker. With a recent explosive appearance at Slam Dunk and upcoming appearances at Ghostfest, Hevy and Butserfest amonst others, 2013 is looking to be a busy year for North London boys HEIGHTS.

Fresh off the back of their UK tours with Bring Me the Horizon and Cancer Bats, EMPRESS join Make a Scene Festival. With their debut album dropping this May you can expect even bigger things from these guys very soon. Described as 'an irrevocably rising behemoth of metal, yet still fresh enough to just be cutting their teeth', Empress are a fusion of mathy/technical metal and soft-around-the-edges progressive rock.

After a year that started touring with much loved Make a Scene locals “Hey! Alaska”.. which then went on to playing the legendary Reading and Leeds Festivals, opening “The Swarm” at Thorpe Park with You me at Six, and receiving high praise for debut E.P “Look a little closer” and following single “Can’t see the light” we can’t wait to see what’s to come from the returning ATTENTION THIEVES in 2013.

Strange as it sounds the Make a Scene Team originally met REACHBACK playing in a Charity football completion with the likes of You me at Six and Lower Than Atlantis last year. We soon realized that they are in-fact one of the most promising pop punk-rock bands in the country.  If upbeat and catchy female fronted bands are your thing. Prepare to be impressed. (PS. We drew 1-1 and expect a rematch!)

Also included on the festival are the mighty SILENT SCREAMS, pop rockers BLITZ KIDS, Red Bull Jam winners I DIVIDE, UK Hardcore rising stars ODESSA, highly regarded pop punk act NECK DEEP, Friendly power-pop-punk band THE HYPE THEORY, and HEY VANITY who feature members of the band formerly known as Fei Comodo. Catchy pop punkers MY FAVOURITE RUNNER UP and hardworking hardcore bands URSA MAJOR and HORIZONS will also take the stage at Teesside University this July.

Local talent comes from Hell Metal Cult “WRAITHS”, Popular metal-core groups FOUNDATIONS and EVERENDING. Along with other well regarded regional bands such as LESSONSLENNOX, HEAVY LIES THE CROWN, KNIGHTS, HARAKIRI FEVER, ACROSS ALL OCEANS, OH, PIONEER, NONE OF THE ABOVE and THIS QUEST SUCKS.
