Love Supreme Jazz Festival are searching for a future music star to open the first day of the festival on Saturday 6 July with a performance on one of the four festival stages.

The ‘Discovery’ competition to take to the stage at the first ever Love Supreme Jazz Festival opens today via their facebook page here. 

Entrants will be shortlisted by a panel featuring one of the festival’s performers: Neil Cowley of Neil Cowley Trio, and representatives from Jazz FM and music producers Serious. The winner will get to perform on one of the greatest jazz festival line-up’s in recent years. With performances from Bryan Ferry, Jools Holland, Chic feat. Nile Rogers, Melody Gardot, Esperanza Spalding, Courtney Pine, Gregory Porter, Marcus Miller, Branford Marsalis Quartet and Robert Glasper Experiment to name just a few, the bill brings together well-known, emerging, cutting edge and crossover jazz musicians to the first three-day greenfield festival in over 20 years. 

The competition closes for submissions on 15 May 2013, and each submission will need to include:

• YouTube (or similar link) of one track being played live
• SoundCloud link of an audio file of the same or a different track, so the judges can hear a higher quality recording
• 300 word ‘covering letter’ with details about the act 

The final shortlist will be open to a public vote via facebook from 20 May to 2 June. The winner will be announced on 3 June.

 The Love Supreme Jazz Festival 2013 takes place at Glynde Place, Glyndebourne, Near Brighton, East Sussex between Fri 5th to Sun 7th July 2013.

Boasting over 40 acts, all accessible for the one weekend price, the Love Supreme Jazz Festival features a main stage, a unique floored and seated Jazz big top and a special stage for the hottest new talent. The dance tent will feature a unique programme of live music and DJ’s arranged by White Mink V Peppermint Candy on Saturday 6 July and the long-awaited return of Funky Sensation on Friday 5 July.
