VOTING FOR THE 2013 NME AWARDS OPENS ON TUESDAY 5 DECEMBER 2012
London, Monday 3 December 2012: HURTS, TRIBES, THE CRIBS, TIM BURGESS, DINOSAUR JR, TOY, EVERYTHING EVERYTHING and more are all confirmed for the annual NME Awards Shows in London, which take place from 1-26 February 2013 at various venues throughout the capital. Tickets go on pre-sale at 9am on Wednesday 5 November at www.nme.com/tickets, with general sale at 9am on Friday 7 November.
Kicking things off are Canadian power-trio Metz on 1 February 2013, capitalizing on their name to bring loud impressive rock on the opening night of the infamous NME shows. Dinosaur Jr will inject some alt-rock with monumental levels of pure guitar noise, and following sold out shows on both sides of the pond, Camden rockers and winners of ‘Best New Band’ at the 2012 NME Awards, Tribes return to treat fans to hits like ‘We Were Children’, ‘Sappho’ and tracks from their forthcoming new album.
The Charlatans’ Tim Burgess, a progenitor of Britpop, will be performing songs from Oh no I Love You, his first solo album in nine years. The line-ups also include Manchester duo Hurts, the critically-acclaimed Toy, revered art-pop foursome Everything Everything, Dublin quartet Kodaline, all female post-punk band Savages, and bringing chaotic collage pop from Canada is Doldrums.
The Cribs are also confirmed for the NME Awards Shows. The band returned this year with Top 10 album In the Belly of the Brazen Bull, and will perform tracks spanning their five studio albums. Gabriel Bruce brings his deep, husky growl to the NME Awards Shows, whist LA group FIDLAR will be bringing their dangerously catchy garage-punk-rock to the UK. Having toured with Warpaint and the Klaxons, Fiction will add a hint of dark indie and twisted pop, and wrapping up the NME Awards Shows with a bang on 26 February is NME Radar Band of the Day Jagwar Ma, the new project from Jono Ma (Lost Valentinos) and Gabriel Winterfield (Ghostwood).
The annual NME Awards Shows roll through London showcasing the best in new and current music at the hottest venues. Ticket pre-sale begins Wednesday 5 November at 9am at NME.com/tickets, followed by general sale at 9am on Friday 7 November.
Voting for the 2013 NME Awards opens on Tuesday 5 December. NME readers can vote in 24 categories including Best British Band, Best International Band, Best Solo Artist, Best New Band, Best Album, Music Moment of the Year and more. Full details available at www.nme.com/awards.
