An all North East line up for the H.M Bark Endeavour, the newest stage at this year’s Stockton Calling, has been released topped by Teesside band Collectors Club.
Hot on the heels of the announcement that Young Rebel Set will headline the ARC stage at the event on Saturday 19th April, the organisers have revealed the names of the acts set to perform on the stage down on the River Tees.
Middlesbrough promoter Henry Carden a.k.a Pay For The Piano has curated the stage. Henry has brought the likes of The 1975, Wolf Alice, Temples, Spector, Gaz Coombes and Alt-J to the area in recent years.
Henry commented, "Having attended the last few Stockton Callings as a punter, it's great to be brought on-board this year as a booker.”
“It's especially exciting to be at the helm of the new HM Bark Endeavour stage and I'm very pleased that we've assembled such a brilliant line-up of emerging North East talent. The atmosphere is going to be unreal!"
Headliners Collectors Club have played alongside the likes of Jake Bugg, Mystery Jets, Maximo Park and Little Comets, performed at T In The Park and had their music featured on hit E4 show Made In Chelsea.
The band pulled one of the largest crowds of the day at 2013s event so an early arrival is recommended for those wanting to catch them this time around.
Prog-pop five piece Weird Shapes, The Approved - the latest project from High Plane Drifters' (as heard on Breaking Bad and CSI Miami) guitarist, sugarcoated indie darlings John & The Ragmen, lo-fi trio Dressed Like Wolves, and female acoustic duo Taylor Mayd, will all be flying the Teesside flag on the stage.
Sheffield based duo Algiers, one half of which is an ex-member of Middlesbrough band DARTZ!, and Newcastle’s acoustic-pop Suntrapp complete the line up.
As well as an abundance of local talent the musical spread on offer also welcomes big names and up coming artists from across the UK.
Public Service Broadcasting, whose debut album was picked in 6Musics top albums of 2013, headline the Georgian Theatre, with psychedelic London 6-piece Lola Colt also set to play the venue. Brummie indie pop act Superfood are set to bring their bouncy Blur-esque hits to KU.
The venue-spanning event has sold out for the last three years in a row so advanced booking is highly recommended. Tickets for the event are on sale now and are £15 in advance.
Further lines up announcements are to be made in the coming weeks. Stockton Calling 2014 takes place at Various Venues, Stockton-on-Tees, Cleveland on Sat 19th April 2014.
