Signal Radio will host their 30th birthday concert on Saturday August 10th 2013 as part of the inaugural Junction 16 concert weekend. The stage will overlook the 26-acre Betley Mere where Charles Darwin swam as a young man whilst contemplating his scientific theory of evolution.
Signal Radio, the most listened to radio station in North Staffordshire and South Cheshire, is 30 years old this year. The critically acclaimed “Total Access” programme is broadcast across the UTV network on weekday evenings.
The “Total Access Live” concert takes place on Saturday 10th August 2013 at Betley Court Farm, Betley, near Crewe, Cheshire, CW3 9BH. The concert site is just off Junction 16 of the M6 motorway. Tickets are priced at £15 for general admission and £75 for VIP.
George Bailey from Junction 16 said:
“We have worked hard to secure this 30th birthday concert and we are proud that Signal Radio has entrusted us with the production of this event.
It is going to be an incredible weekend of music. Signal Radio has been an integral part of life within the area for 30 years.
Not only was I listening on 5th September 1983 to Neil Diamond's hit “Beautiful Noise”, the first record played by John Evington as the station launched, I remember winning one of the first mystery year competitions back in October 1983. To be able to celebrate Signal’s 30th birthday during the Junction 16 concert weekend is an incredible honour.
Our aim is for 1 stage, 3 days, 1 incredible and affordable weekend, accessible from Junction 16 of the M6 motorway. The line up for all 3 days is now complete and we look forward to welcoming everyone to Betley Court Farm in August.
The Friday concert will feature the legendary Status Quo supported by Mungo Jerry. Mungo Jerry returns to where they launched their international hit “In The Summertime” back in 1970 at the legendary “Hollywood Festival”. Friday tickets on sale here
The Sunday concert features the Happy Mondays with 808 State, Peter Hook and the Light and The Farm. The concert will also include DJ sets from The Inspiral Carpets‘ Clint Boon and iconic Hacienda club figure Dave Haslam. Sunday tickets on sale here
Betley is an historic village surrounded by ancient parkland in an area of outstanding natural beauty and scientific interest. It is a superb venue to see such international artists perform”.
Junction 16 are proudly supporting the Douglas Macmillan Hospice as it celebrates 40 years of amazing service to the community. Their volunteers will have a significant presence on all 3 days of the concert weekend.
Tickets purchased from their shops for any of the 3 events will ensure that even more money is given to the Hospice, as Junction 16 will donate a fee for every ticket sold over their counters”
