Hevy Fest have confirmed the votes are in and they are delighted to reveal that they will be naming their baby monkey Dillinger! (after the New Jersey mathcore masters, and therefore ultimately the infamous gangster and bank robber, John Dillinger)

Born 7th March this year, young Dillinger is the newest addition to a family of Javan Langurs that Hevy has adopted. The family are currently residents at Port Lympne, but are part of a conservation program designed to return them back to the wild in Java.

These primates are unique to the Indonesian island of Java, where it is estimated that less than 2,000 remain. With no population group containing more than 100 individuals, they are currently the most endangered of all the gibbon species. The main threats to this species are from sale in the illegal pet trade (young animals are hounded using dogs), hunting for food & medicine, and deforestation.

It is an honour to be working with the Aspinall Foundation on this project, and we will be fund-raising for them at Hevy Fest next month.
