Underground Festival returns to Gloucester Guildhallfor 2013 for it's 4th year at the venue. One of last year's headliners, Bastille, went on to have a number 1 album, and loads of other acts that performed have gone on to similar success.

The headliners for this years festival are LEWIS WATSON (Sat) and MALLORY KNOX (Sun). Lewis played the festival last year, headlining the 2nd (then BBC Introducing) stage. He came back to the venue in March for a sold-out show on his EP tour, so this is the next progression for an artist we're really excited about, and really happy to keep supporting. Mallory Knox have been all over Radio 1 for most of this year, so it's a massive coup that we've been able to secure them, especially as they're opening the main stage at this year's Reading and Leeds festivals, one of the biggest festivals in the UK.

Also performing on the main stage are The Family Rain, Superfood, Night Engine, Seasfire, MT, and Astronomyy on the Saturday. On the Sunday joining Mallory Knox are Marmozets, Natives, Gnarwolves, I Divide, Scholars and The First. So a really great spread of rising acts from across the board of UK music.

As with every year, the festival picks a local band to champion and has them open the main stage, giving a local band the opportunity to perform alongside the 'next big thing'. This year is no different and Gloucester band The Tommy Drums have been selected for the privilege.

Also they will be continuing their association with DIY, the well respected web site and magazine as our main festival and main stage sponsor. But the festival is not just about what's on the main stage, there's some really exciting acts playing elsewhere around the venue. Teaming up with two of their favourite UK record labels in Killing Moon and LAB Records, to curate the second stage on the Saturday and Sunday respectively. And with previous third stage sponsor Risk and Consequence now defunct, local clothing label Cub Clothing will now be covering the third stage.

Highlights on the other stages include gloomy Manchester hopefuls Embers, the return of VV Brown, Oxford’s rising soul and R’n’B star Ella Martini (who also happens to be the cousin of headliner Lewis Watson), Meadowlark (something of a supergroup fronted by YouTube sensation Kate McGill, who have as yet only played one show, supporting pals Bastille in front of 1500 people!), Saint Raymond (currently on tour with Gabrielle Aplin, and recent iTunes Single of the Week) and Elissa Franceschi (younger sister of Josh, frontman of You Me At Six).

As ever, the festival will be completely free entry, with wristbands issued on a first come, first serve basis on each day. Here is the 2013 festival lineup in full:
