Today Gottwood Festrival announced the launch of their Student DJ Competition. Looking to unearth keen new talent and offering them a chance to play a set at this year’s festival! And, with previous winners on the 2013 lineup the stakes are high…

Each year, Gottwood hosts its very own talent scout competition to find emerging talent within the Gottwood aesthetic. Opening on Tuesday February 26, the competition offers the winner and two runners up some great prizes, as well as a slot at the festival in June.Plus the winner will receive an extra push, being featured in the Gottwood Presents Podcast series in the countdown to the festival.

Budding DJs and producers should submit their mixes – original mixes, no rip-offs, and preferably something that is done with two turntables/CDJs and a mixer – to Gottwood Festival via download link to [email protected]. The closing date for submissions ismidnight Thursday March 28.

Then the real fun begins when the top 10 entries (as selected by the Gottwood team) will be put through a 10-day poll via the Gottwood Festival Facebook and Soundcloud pages to see who will be making it to the festival.

The Gottwood Student DJ Competition is a mainstay of the festival, and something that fresh new talent looks forward to each year. In 2012 Solus won, with Atlas and Eton Messy as runners up – and all three return this year. Solus appears as part of the lineup, while Eton Messy host their own stage featuring Atlas. “The Gottwood Student DJ Competition is a great platform to raise your profile andmeet like-minded music lovers, as well as an opportunity to play at one of the UK's leading niche music festivals,” said Eton Messy.“Since doing the competition last year and playing a set it gave us the perfect springboard, and now we are delighted to be back.”
