Legendary musical counter-culture heroes Morcheeba and Tricky have been announced as Saturday night co-headliners for Galtres Parklands Festival 2014. 

Both acts rose to international prominence in the 1990s as central figures in a new wave of inventive acts bending the boundaries of genres including hip-hop, soul, r&b, and electronica. Since their early-90s beginnings, Morcheeba and Tricky have released a succession of era-defining, Platinum-and-Gold-certified UK top 10 albums; garnering a devoted, worldwide cult following.

They join acts including The Human League, Bellowhead, Levellers, Public Service Broadcasting, The Jim Jones Review and Foy Vance on the line-up for Galtres Parklands Festival 2014, the tenth instalment of the festival based at Duncombe Park in Helmsley, North Yorkshire.

Morcheeba and Tricky perform at Galtres Parklands Festival 2014 on Saturday 23rd August, with supports that day including the Jim Jones Revue, Paris XY, Martin Stephenson, Chris Helme (The Seahorses) and Beans on Toast. A major indie profile act is still to be announced for the Saturday.

Festival director James Houston said: “This is a major coup for us, and a big step forwards for our event, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year. We are thrilled to welcome Morcheeba and Tricky to the line-up for Galtres Parklands Festival - they are huge personal favourites of mine. Both acts are not just incredible mainstream success stories, they’re genuine cult idols too. We hope the fact they can sit happily on our festival line-up alongside the likes of Levellers, Bellowhead and The Human League reflects both the eclecticism and the sheer quality of this year’s programme. It’s going to be amazing!”
