Acoustic Lounge & DJ Tooley join headline acts

Nine musicians will take to the stage for the Acoustic Lounge from 4pm to 9.30pm at the Spa reception. Visitors to the Spa may already have enjoyed a taster for the Lounge thanks to the musical Busk Stops at various points around the complex during the day.

DJs Kista and Tooley present Flashlight in the Spa Sun Court from 8pm to 10pm – an all vinyl extravaganza of funk, soul and hip hop.

Then from 10pm at the Spa Grand Hall, Boy George (DJ set) will headline Club Coastival, a fantastic evening of music and lightshows. He will be appearing alongside his VG Records partner and fellow DJ/Producer Marc Vedo (DJ set) and Holotronica, a combined music and 3D hologram experience. For lovers of music of a different kind, Coastival – A Different View has lots on offer. At the Rotunda from 2.30pm to 3.15pm and 4.30pm to 5.15pm, Hymns to the Light will feature Les Canards Chantants.

For a musical accompaniment whilst enjoying visual art, there will be gallery gigs at Mr Milo’s at 1pm and 3pm and Bland’s Cliff Gallery at 2pm.

For those who can’t wait until 16th February, there are some fringe events to whet the appetite. Mister Tooley presents The Divine Light: Gospel Breakfast, a selection of vinyl gospel music from the 1950s, 60s and 70s at Mojo’s on 9th February and the Watermark Café on the 10th, both from 10am to 11.30am.

The Big Sing on Friday 15th February will see around 1,500 children from a dozen local primary and secondary schools perform at the Spa Grand Hall.

Create Director Wendy Holroyd said: “Music always forms the bedrock for any successful Coastival event and we are delighted by the line-up we have this year. “Aside from the DJ set from Boy George we have some fantastic music, for all different tastes in the run up to and during Coastival – A Different View on the 16th. It promises to be a great few days for music lovers.”

A total of 60 events, 54 of them free, are being lined up for Coastival – A Different View.  Aside from music there will be video mapping on the side of the Spa complex and a whole range of entertainment, visual art and installations, and activities for children and young people.

At various venues across Scarborough there will be theatre, arts installations and exhibitions, some of which will continue for the remainder of February.
