Next year’s Field Day to take place on Saturday 1st June 2013

In what has been cited as a tough year for UK festivals with a number of events cancelling or taking a hiatus, Field Day bucked the trend completely this year, once again completely selling out of all its 30,000 capacity.

Returning to Victoria Park for a sixth year, this year’s line-up presented East London with an eclectic mix of established and up-and-coming acts including Grimes, Beirut, Zulu Winter, Afrocubism, Chairlift, Jessie Ware, Hudson Mohawke, Metronomy, Sleigh Bells and headliners Franz Ferdinand, whose triumphant return to the live circuit was welcomed by punters and press alike.

And with more extras than ever on offer, this year saw an unprecedented number of surprises including plenty of tongue-in-cheek alternative Jubilee antics in the Village Mentality area, a spontaneous mass dance-along to Beirut and an impromptu rendition of Rebecca Black’s Friday courtesy of Paul Franz Ferdinand live on air during the Field Day Radio broadcast.

"It felt that Field Day 2012 was the best yet. The lay out of the site worked really well, the line-up was really exciting and I personally got to see loads more bands than I ever have at Field Day. We also sold out for the 6th year in a row, now with a total capacity of 30,000, in a time that feels like some festivals and outdoor events are struggling. So a big thank you to everyone that came to Field Day and all the artists that played. I am already starting to book Field Day 2013 and due to the move to June 2012 can now enjoy going to many other festivals and events over the summer!"  Tom Baker, co-founder.
