Festival No.6 arts and culture additions, including prolific authors, comedians, poets, performers, writers and artists. 

Already confirmed is John Cooper Clarke, one of Britain’s best-loved poets and performers. Name-checked by everyone from Arctic Monkeys to Steve Coogan, he will headline the Piazza Stage. Ramy Essam, whose song ‘Irhal’ was voted third in ‘Time Out’ ‘100 Songs That Changed The World’ will also perform on the Piazza Stage and discuss protest songs with Dorian Lynskey, author of33 Revolutions Per Minute.

One of the stars of last year’s festival, the wonderful Brythoniaid Male Voice Choir will be making a triumphant return to Festival No. 6. Their cover of New Order’s ‘Blue Monday’ was a Youtube sensation and shown on BBC Newsnight and they are already rehearsing a few special cover versions for 2013.

Warp Films and Shane Meadows (This Is England) will also be screening Made of Stone, the highly anticipated film about The Stone Roses’ record-breaking reunion by the award-winning Meadows himself.

The acclaimed Joe Duddell, who has worked with everyone from Elbow to, NERO and James, has been appointed Composer in Residence (a UK festival first). He will be working with some of the great musicians at No.6 to create a series of unique, bespoke performances over the weekend.

Booker Prize winner DBC Pierre will be reading from Petit Mal, his debut collection of short fiction, philosophical vignettes and aphoristic interludes, published the week before No.6. He’ll also be in conversation with MEATliquor, current enfant terribles of the UK food scene.

Acclaimed author and Culture Show presenter Paul Morley will discuss notions of Northern identity, while the legendary producer Andrew Weatherall will be collaborating live with authorMichael Smith. ‘Everything But The Girl’s’ Tracey Thorn is also confirmed.

Literary Death Match, the hit night from Los Angeles/New York/London will be presenting a special Portmeirion Literary Death Match, pitting leading authors against each other, before a celebrity judging panel. The feisty Vagenda have been described as ‘the next Germaine Greers’ (Evening Standard) and will also be speaking at the festival.

Some of the most exciting authors from 2013, including the award-winning bestsellers Caitlin Moran, Jan Morris and John Niven, whose book Kill Your Friends is currently being filmed for the big screen.

Other top authors appearing include Joe Dunthorne, whose debut novel Submarine was made into a feature film of the same name, Matt Haig, author of The Humans, Glen Duncan (I, Lucifer and The Last Werewolf) David Whitehouse (Bed), the wonderful 90-year-old World War II veteran, Harry Leslie Smith.

Tales of Whatever will bring the most amazing true life stories from their regular night and hold storytelling workshops for festival attendees.

Mark Thomas, Justin Moorhouse and Wes Zaharuk lead the comedy line-up, with Paul McCaffery, James Acaster, Romesh Ranganathan, Charlie Baker, Steve Royle, Danny McLoughlin and Dan Nightingale.

Another new addition this year's event, which will take place on Saturday afternoon with the theme of ‘I Am Not A Number’ organized by Walk The Plank, who just masterminded the launch of the first ever UK City of Culture this year in Derry.

Another new addition will be the No.6 Short Film Cinema, curated by director Simon Ellis, winner of the International Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, the BIFA and nominated for BAFTA and European Film Awards. Director and writer Colin O’Toole will also be shooting the No.6 Short Film in Portmeirion over the weekend, with cameos from some of the stars of No.6. Punters will also get the chance to play bit parts.

Salon No.6 hosted by the founders of Salon London and Salon North, award-winning screenwriter and author Helen Bagnall and leading vocal coach Juliet Russell will be heading to Portmierion. Salon No.6 will present a weekend of talks and discussions on the subject of Identity, inspired by ‘I Am Not A Number, I’m a Free Man’ including renowed sociologist Phillippa Perry, Natalie Nahaiand Art Macarbe.

Don’t Tell Stories trails will be bringing the magical Gwlythe Wood to life and there will also be a series of pop-up acoustic performances and woodland raves throughout the weekend.

Museum No.6, curated by the award-winning Manchester Museum, including guided walks and foraging in the woods, and the opportunity to 'Museum speed date', a one on one session with the museum experts.

Will also be unveiled and there will also be Urban Sketching classes throughout the weekend.

The acts will perform across the entire site, from the historic town hall to the Colonnade gardens, to the picturesque Estuary Stage and the promenade along the river, against a back drop of neo-classical architecture, sandy beaches and palm trees.
